Welcome to Captain George Jones's page. My AiT challenge is: Pacific Triangle *

My name is George Jones, I'm 53 years old. I'm retired from the U.S. Navy where I worked as an enlisted weather observer, forecaster and analyst. I served on both the U.S.S. Enterprise and the U.S.S. Tarawa and have been on deployments to the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean on both vessels. I was also stationed on Diego Garcia for a year so I am somewhat familiar with the weather in the Indian Ocean. In fact, I learned to sail at Diego Garcia on a Catalina 22.

I've been married for 33 years now, but we don't have any kids. We do have a shih tzu we rescued from the local pound though.

* My new AiT Challege I am proposing what I call the "Pacific Triangle". Departing from some point on the West Coast (probably San Diego) to Hawaii, replenishing there and then sailing North to Adak Alaska and, finally from Adak AK to Whidbey Island Washington!

Okay, and before you ask "Why Adak AK?" it simple. I used to be stationed there when I was in the U.S. Navy and I would like to see it now that the Navy has left and it is a "civilian" community.

I'm still working on the design of "Kodoku", my 10ft boat for my challenge!
