I made the mast 15 years ago using aluminum and
stainless steel. Apart from being a bit grubby, there's no sign of
any deteriation. The base of the mast will hinge on the concrete base.
Saturday 27th June:
Dropped the mast, fit the base hinge, antenna rotator:

The top ten foot section of mast is 2" round
but the rest is square section telescoping aluminum. It's all guyed
(3 sets of halyards) and there is very little movement in the wind.

At the top of the mast is the rotator. Under that
is the wind vane/anemometer. At the far left in the above picture you
can just see the WiFi unit/solar panel charger unit for the weather
station. There's so many halyards, cables, power tools and
"Stuff" across the garden, my dogs are staying indoors! All
I have to do now is jack the mast up a bit higher and fit the antenna.

Sunday 28th June:
BLOOD SWEAT and TEARS. Took 5 pairs of hands and a
few scary moments but it's UP: |
